Caroline will illustrate the sustainable design ideas CPArch has been exploring by way of three different case studies: 1. An alts + adds in Earlwood; 2. A new house in Ryde; 3. A new house on 10 hectares north of Wollongong.

The practice aims to produce high quality sustainable architectural design working closely with clients to craft unique, appropriate and cost effective design solutions. Case studies: 1: Egan St Apartments, Newtown; 2: Hatcher House, Alpine Berry Farm, Southern Highlands.

The practice endeavours to incorporate traditional low maintenance materials and ESD principles in their projects. Case studies will include the Pindari Project, which won the new multi-unit housing award at the 2006 Randwick City Urban Design Awards.

Frank Stanisic will be presenting recent projects including Edo, Rose and Springfield. These experimental projects, showcasing collective housing and work environments, obsessively explore the opposition between the frame and operability, closure and permeability, consumption and restraint.

Tim will present some of the latest technologies that have been used in commercial buildings for air conditioning, power generation, daylight / air quality improvement strategies, smart façade innovations and integrated water conservation initiatives. The presentation will have a focus on costs and what motivates a client to adopt these strategies. Case studies will include the new Centrepoint redevelopment, the new CBA office building at Sydney Olympic Park, Energex’s new HQ in Brisbane and Vodafone’s World HQ’s in the UK.

Craig’s main interest lies in environmentally advanced workplaces. In presenting a case study of the 36/37 Squadron Headquarters Building at RAAF Richmond, he will describe the process from inception to post occupancy highlighting issues such as integrated design, greenstar implementation, cost control, and the quest for the ubiquitous elegant solution.
